B207 2.0T (9-3) — DI Cassette Failure & Crankshaft Position Sensor: The B207 turbo develops DI (Direct Ignition) cassette failure that causes misfires and no-start conditions, and the crankshaft position sensor can fail, causing stalling. While these are repairable, on higher-mileage units with compounding turbo wear, oil leaks, and sludge buildup, a replacement engine is the cleaner path.

B235 2.3T (9-5) — Sludge Formation: The B235 turbo engine is prone to oil sludge formation, particularly when conventional oil is used or oil change intervals are extended. Sludge blocks oil passages and starves the turbo and bearings, leading to catastrophic failure. Strict synthetic oil use prevents this, but many used engines show sludge damage. Our replacement B235 engines are inspected for sludge contamination — a clean replacement with strict synthetic oil going forward is the only reliable path once sludge has compromised an engine.
