Scion (discontinued 2016) used Toyota engine platforms exclusively. The tC used the 2AR-FE 2.5L four-cylinder (180 hp, same as the Camry/RAV4). The xB used the 2AZ-FE 2.4L (158 hp, same as the Camry). The xD used the 1NZ-FE 1.8L. The FR-S used the FA20 2.0L flat-four (200 hp, jointly developed by Toyota and Subaru). Otherwise the FA20 is a reliable engine with no widespread failure patterns. For recalled engines that experienced valve damage from a fractured spring, a replacement FA20 from post-recall production is the clean fix.
