Engines for every major make

Toyota's powertrain engineering sets the global standard for longevity, and even the most reliable engines eventually need replacement — whether from collision damage, neglected maintenance, or the small number of known issues that affect certain generations. We carry the complete Toyota engine lineup: the 2GR-FE and 2GR-FKS 3.5L V6 found in the Camry, Highlander, Tacoma, RAV4, Avalon, and Sienna; the 1GR-FE 4.0L V6 from the 4Runner, Tacoma, and FJ Cruiser; the 2AR-FE 2.5L and 2AZ-FE 2.4L four-cylinders from the Camry and RAV4; and the newer A25A-FKS Dynamic Force 2.5L in current Camrys and RAV4s.

For truck and full-size applications, we stock the 5.7L 3UR-FE V8 from the Tundra and Sequoia, the 4.6L 1UR-FE, and the 4.7L 2UZ-FE from earlier Tundras and Land Cruisers. We also carry the complete hybrid powertrain engines — the 2.5L A25A-FXS for hybrid Camrys, RAV4s, and Highlanders.

Every Toyota engine has verified mileage, is inspected for platform-specific known issues, and ships with our standard warranty. These are OEM originals, not rebuilds.

Common Toyota Engine Issues

These are the most frequent reasons Toyota owners need a replacement engine.

2AZ-FE 2.4L — Excessive Oil Consumption: The 2007–2011 Camry and 2009–2012 RAV4 2.4L four-cylinder is our most common Toyota replacement engine. A manufacturing defect in the piston rings causes oil consumption that worsens over time, eventually reaching 1 quart per 1,000 miles or more. Toyota extended the warranty to 10 years/150K miles on affected VINs, but many are now beyond that coverage. A replacement engine with 50K miles and proper ring seating is the permanent fix.

1GR-FE 4.0L — Head Gasket Weep: The 4.0L V6 in the 2003–2009 4Runner and Tacoma can develop an external head gasket weep on the rear of the engine, causing oil to drip onto the exhaust and create a burning smell. While not a catastrophic failure, the labor to access the rear head gasket on an installed engine makes replacement the more economical option in many cases.

2GR-FE 3.5L — Oil Leak at VVT-i Cover: The 3.5L V6 across Camrys, Highlanders, and RAV4s commonly develops an oil leak at the variable valve timing oil line connection and the VVT-i actuator cover gasket. On higher-mileage engines where the leak has been ongoing, the oil starvation risk to the VVT-i system makes replacement the safer path.

Toyota Engine — Quick Answers

Are Toyota engines really as reliable as people say?

Toyota engines consistently rank among the longest-lasting powertrains in independent studies. That said, certain model years have known issues — the 2007-2011 2.4L oil consumption problem being the most significant. When properly sourced in the 45K-65K mile range, a replacement Toyota engine has decades of reliable service ahead of it.

Do you carry engines for older Toyota trucks?

Yes — we stock engines for 4Runners, Tacomas, and Tundras going back to the mid-1990s, including the 3.4L 5VZ-FE, the 4.7L 2UZ-FE, and the 3.0L 3VZ-E. Toyota truck engines are always in demand, so we recommend getting a quote early for older platforms.

What about hybrid Toyota engines?

We carry the hybrid-specific engine variants including the 2.5L A25A-FXS for the Camry Hybrid, RAV4 Hybrid, and Highlander Hybrid. These are the internal combustion engine component only — they bolt to your existing hybrid transaxle and electric motor assembly.

Can I get a Toyota engine with lower than 45K miles?

We can often source units under 45K miles for specific applications, especially for high-demand platforms like the 2GR V6 and 1GR V6. Let us know your target mileage when you request a quote and we will search our network.
